That's me and the hubs. He's pretty much the best guy ever.

I'm a creative professional with a love for DIY projects, the awesome and ever-growing blogosphere, and anything having to do with weddings. I get a kick out of figuring out the most budget-friendly way to dress, create, decorate and plan. Recently, I switched gears and left the wonderful world of advertising and marketing in the big bad city for the even more wonderful world of publishing in the quiet and crowd-free suburbs. In my free time, I am constantly tweaking things big and little around the fixer-upper house I share with my incredible husband (Dan - he's the "cakes" in my blog name) and energetic puppy (that'd be Louie), dreaming about becoming an event planner, trying out a new recipe and attempting to last more than 20 minutes on the treadmill without getting bored. Despite my better half wishing otherwise, I'm a firm believer that a fresh coat of bright paint can give a garage sale find a whole new life.
